SCHOOL BUS RULES
The driver is in full charge of the bus and students at all times. Students riding the bus must obey the driver promptly.
Students shall ride their regularly assigned bus at all times unless permission has been granted by parent/guardian and school authority. Non-regular students may not be allowed to ride if an overcrowding condition could exist.
Unless by written permission of school authorities, no student shall be permitted to leave the bus except at his/her regular stop.
Students may be assigned seats by their bus driver, principal, or principals designee.
Students are to maintain orderly conduct at all times and are not to use profane/vulgar language or make improper gestures.
Students are to assist in keeping the bus clean by keeping their waste paper off the floor. To keep the bus clean, eating and drinking is at the discretion of the bus driver, with the students responsible for cleaning any mess made.
Possession or use of tobacco products and the lighting of matches or lighters is not allowed.
No students shall possess, use, be under the influence of, or sell any illegal substance.
No student shall open a bus window without first getting permission from the bus driver. Nor shall a student at any time extend his/her head, hands, arms, or other body parts out of the windows of the school bus whether the school bus is in motion or standing still.
Students shall have nothing in their possession which may cause injury to another; such as sticks, breakable containers, any type of firearms, knives, explosives, straps of pins extending from their clothing, etc. Animals, other than "seeing eye" dogs, or those specifically trained to aid a handicapping condition, will not be allowed on school buses.
Each student must see that his/her books, musical instruments, and personal belongings are kept out of the aisle. Special permission must be granted in advance by school authorities to transport large items.
Students will not be allowed to talk to the bus driver more than is necessary.
No student shall sit in the driver's seat, nor shall any student be to the immediate right or left of the driver.
Students are to remain seated while the bus is in motion and are not to get on or off the bus until the bus has come to a complete stop.
Students must leave the bus in an orderly manner. They must not cross the highway until directed to by the school bus driver. When boarding or leaving the bus, students should be in full view of the bus driver at all times.
Whether boarding or departing, students must cross the highway only in front of the school bus and never from behind.
Students must not stand or play in the roadway while waiting for the bus. Students should leave home early enough to arrive at the bus stop before the bus arrives.
Self-discipline should be exercised by students at the bus loading zones. Students should refrain from pushing or shoving other students while awaiting loading.
Students, who have to walk some distance along the highway to the bus loading zone, must walk, where practical, on the left-hand side facing oncoming traffic. This will also apply to students leaving the bus loading zones in the evening.
In the event of an actual emergency, emergency exit procedures, as established during emergency exit drills, will be followed.
Student's misconduct on a bus will be sufficient reason to discontinue providing bus transportation to those students involved.
In discipline problems that are more routine in nature, the driver will make out a bus conduct report to the parent(s)/guardian(s). Students must have a parent or guardian sign the report and return it to the driver before he/she will be permitted to ride on the bus the next day.
Parent(s)/guardian(s) shall be responsible for any damages to a school bus caused by their child.
